We live in a strange world. There is so much material wealth flowing around us, and we are all working so hard, but it can feel challenging to connect the work we are doing with the flow we can see so that we are confident about simply meeting our needs.

Even if you have a what looks like a functioning business, the quest for clients can be a source of anxiety: What if this is the last one? What if you say no (to an unreasonable request) and they fire you? What if, what if, what if?
When we’re thinking that way, we make bad choices. We undercharge, overdeliver, make promises we can’t keep, and generally do things that are not in our best interests – or that of our clients.
We think that if only we had more people coming in the door, more contracts, more, more more… we would be safe.
We imagine that we could solve this problem with a flow of unlimited money and clients and incoming phone calls. We envision invitations and conferences and speaking requests so numerous that we have to juggle them all. Hard work that will eventually pay off, and then we’ll be able to relax.
If so — and I suspect it is for many of you — I want to ask you as lovingly as I can: How’s that going for you?
(If your answer is, “GREAT!” carry on – you don’t need this workshop.)
If, however, what you imagined as Abundance feels a lot more like Overwhelm…
Please keep reading.

The cure for scarcity thinking is often framed as the “abundance” mindset. This is one that focuses on the scale of what is possible in an infinite universe. It looks something like this:
There is a never-ending flow, and we can tap into it. The universe wants you to be rich. Abundance is your birth right.
There are bits of this that are true. Ish. Let’s say that there are seeds of truth in the thought.
There is, at least, a lot of attention and money flowing around in the world. If you offer something that people need or want, connecting your offer to them when they are looking for it can redirect a flow of resources to where you want them to go. (Into your business, presumably.)
This is the essence of good marketing and sales.
However, in this culture, most of us think of the abundant life as one of overflowing material wealth.
In common portrayal, it looks like fancy cars, beach houses, endless vacation, and all the sushi you can eat. (You can insert your personal variation of that here. Vision board not required.)
The problem is, it doesn’t work.
Or at least, it doesn’t alleviate the underlying problem of scarcity thinking itself.

Here’s a deep truth: There are plenty of people in the world who are wealthy beyond most of our wildest dreams, who still don’t feel secure.
It is very likely that if you find yourself chasing overflowing wealth, thinking that it will fix some void in your life…
You are still working from the same basic fear.
You think that you can overcome it by having so much that you could never run out.
But this isn’t fundamentally a different mindset – it is the flip side of the same way of seeing the world.

In your business, it can result in chasing too many clients, and suddenly finding yourself with more business than you can handle.
It causes exhaustion, confusion, and overwhelm. It can harm your company reputation, as you may be unable to deliver on your promises. And if it becomes a habit, it can even make your employees quit for greener (calmer, better run) pastures.
So if you find yourself in this cycle from famine to feast to famine again…
I invite you to dive into my workshop, Better Than Abundance!
